Individual Award Descriptions

Divisional Award Descriptions

  • The KSU Student of the Year Award recognizes a junior, senior, or graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding overall service, scholarship, and leadership for the benefit of the KSU community during their collegiate career.

  • The Organization of the Year award recognizes a student organization that has made a significant effort to further its purpose through its contribution to Kennesaw State University and the surrounding community. This award recognizes the student organization that has demonstrated consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity, and perseverance through their activities and programs.

  • The Student Affairs Partner of the Year award recognizes an on or off campus business, office, department, or program that supports the mission and vision of the Division of Student Affairs by ensuring “students [will] achieve success through practical application of knowledge by becoming engaged ethical leaders who serve their local and global communities.”

  • The Advisor of the Year Award recognizes a KSU employee who has demonstrated exceptional organizational advisement or personal mentoring as a volunteer advisor for a student organization.

  • The Division of Student Affairs presents awards to outstanding undergraduate student employees who have made a significant impact on the quality of life for students and/or employees at Kennesaw State University. This award is presented to two student assistants working in the Division of Student Affairs who have demonstrated the values of the Division.

  • The KSU Closing the Loop Award recognizes a department for exemplary modeling of the assessment cycle within Student Affairs at KSU.

  • The KSU Assessment of Student Learning Award recognizes a department for their outstanding efforts with assessing student learning at KSU.

  • The KSU Spirit of Assessment Award recognizes a department that has made demonstrable efforts to exemplify a culture of assessment and evidence through their assessment plans and results.

 

Departmental Award Descriptions

  • This award will go to a Family Ambassador that went above and beyond in their service to parents and families of KSU students throughout the year.

  • This award is presented to a KSU Faculty Member who has demonstrated a commitment to promoting the mental health of the KSU Community.

  • This award is presented to a student who has been active and engaged with numerous CCC events and centers throughout the year.  This student lives out the mission of CCC in their daily lives as they support and participate in diversity and inclusion programs and services offered throughout the department.   They are a shining example of the best of Cultural and Community Centers!
  • This award is given to a KSU student with more than 60 credit hours who is committed to living a lifestyle of leadership. The student recognized is consistently and successfully demonstrating the four processes of the Department of Student Leadership and Service Choice, Action, Impact, and Reflection (C.A.I.R.) model of leadership development. The student leads ethically, thinks globally, reasons critically, communicates compellingly, and acts impactfully. The student recognized excels as both a mentor and an advocate for peers. The student is also dedicated to KSU and its greater communities.
  • This award is presented to a KSU Staff Member who has demonstrated a commitment to promoting the mental health of the KSU Community.

  • This award is given to a KSU student with less than 60 credit hours who has demonstrated growth in the ability to act into leadership moments. The student recognized has taken initiative with, and is committed to, Student Leadership and Service programs to create impact at KSU and/or its greater communities.

  • This award is given to a current KSU student who has exemplified a commitment to volunteerism and service by dedicating their personal time to serving their community. The student selected demonstrates a desire to make a positive change in the world through service and inspires others to become active citizens.
  • Mentor of the Year acknowledges a student that went above and beyond to help and guide a mentee successfully. This award is for a mentor who helped their mentee acclimate and transition into KSU; join student organizations; participate in campus life; or provided the mentee with personal, professional, and academic guidance.

  • This award is presented to a student who, in the past year, represents the inclusive ideals of the center and commits to the center’s mission of cultural exploration.  The award recipient explores concepts of racial and ethnic diversity and encourages others to do the same inside and outside of the center, helping to create a sense of community and belonging to the institution.

  • This award is presented to a student who in the past year has become highly-involved with the center, the programs, and services that the center offers. Furthermore, the ideal recipient of the award goes above and beyond in engaging other students in activities inside and outside of the center, thus creating or maintaining a sense of community and belonging to the center and the institution.

  • This award recognizes the contributions of a student who has been nominated by their peers as embodying the mission and values of the Safe Space Student Leadership Initiative which are to be an active part of creating positive change on their campus, collaboration, leadership development of self and others, and educating self and others.

  • The WRC Engaged Leadership Award is presented to a student or student group who has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing gender and women's issues through leadership in co-curricular activities, advocacy, and volunteer work.

  • This award recognizes an outstanding peer educator who has made a significant contribution to the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery's alcohol and other drug (AOD) peer education initiative at Kennesaw State University. This student demonstrates integrity, inclusivity, enthusiasm, collaboration, and service as they work to improve student life at Kennesaw State University. This student shows unwavering commitment to providing recovery-informed education to the student population.

  • This award recognizes a student who has made a significant positive impact on the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery Collegiate Recovery Community. This student exemplifies servant leadership through consistent and extraordinary contributions to the Collegiate Recovery Community, which includes actively fostering community engagement, frequently being of service on and off campus, and committing to lead by example.

  • This award recognizes one undergraduate or graduate student who has continuously contributed to the success and longevity of their organization by demonstrating superior leadership in their organizational involvement, while maintaining academic excellence. The ideal recipient will have served as a role model within their organization and will have exerted a positive influence on their colleagues and peers, in addition to making a significant impact on campus life through their leadership efforts. This student exemplifies commitment, honesty, collaboration, service, integrity, inclusion, community building, discovery, and civility. This person does not have to serve in an officer position.

  • This award recognizes an RSO that created an outstanding educational, social, cultural, or performance program or event.  The ideal recipient will have developed and sponsored a program or event that served as an enriching experience for the academic and/or co-curricular lives of KSU community members and received a positive response from the KSU community in regards to attendance, content, likeability, theme, or concept.

  • This award is presented to one fraternity man and one sorority woman that embodies their organization's values, has demonstrated continued service to their organization/chapter, the Greek community, and the University. This student excels in academics, leadership, campus and community involvement, and serves as a role model for their peers.
  • This award is presented to one organization that truly embodies their organization's values, supports the Greek community, and positively reflects the mission of the institution and the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • This award is presented to a student participant, staff member, or organization leader who demonstrates a commitment to the Department of Sports and Recreation, Kennesaw State University, and the Kennesaw community. This commitment is shown through participation in professional conferences, involvement in department initiatives, or representation at campus or community events. This student stands behind the mission of the Department of Sports and Recreation and consistently shares their passion and knowledge with others
  • This award recognizes a student participant, staff member, or organization leader who has made a significant and lasting impact on the Department of Sports and Recreation during their time at KSU. This lasting impact could come from the growth of a program, improvement of a process, implementation of a new initiative, or other contribution which will continue to benefit the KSU student population.
  • This award recognizes a student staff member who has exceeded the expectations of their role within the department. They are consistently regarded by their peers as an effective leader and role model and are a positive representation of the Department of Sports and Recreation and Kennesaw State University.
  • This award recognizes a student staff member that has worked for the department less than a year who has exceeded the expectations of their role. They are consistently regarded by their peers as an effective leader and role model and strive to hold a student leader position. They are a positive representation of the Department of Sports and Recreation and Kennesaw State University.  The student nominated for this award is not eligible for Student Employee of the Year.
